During the 17th and 18th centuries, it spread as an epidemic in Europe. In 1882, Dr. Robert Koch discovered the bacterium responsible for TB, revolutionizing its diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>History of World Tuberculosis Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>World TB Day was first observed in 1982 to mark 100 years since the discovery of the TB bacterium. It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes, transmitting the bacteria to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Symptoms of TB<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Persistent cough for more than two weeks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coughing up blood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weight loss<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Night sweats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fatigue and weakness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loss of appetite<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chest pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dangers of TB<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If left untreated, TB can become fatal. It can affect not only the lungs but also other vital organs, weakening the patient\u2019s immune system significantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention of TB<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid crowded places<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain personal hygiene<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eat a nutritious diet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep a safe distance from infected individuals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover your mouth while coughing or sneezing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Treatment of TB<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>TB is treated through a 6 to 9-month-long regimen called DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course), where patients receive regular medication under supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TB Vaccine<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The BCG vaccine (Bacillus Calmette-Gu\u00e9rin) is used for TB prevention.
