The recently released Henley Passport Index 2024 ranks Indian passports in the 82nd spot.

Key findings of the index

• India’s rank improved by 2 spots from last year (84^th ) and now it allows its citizens visa-free access to 58 foreign destinations.
• Popular tourist spots like Indonesia, Maldives, and Thailand are among the countries that Indian passport holders can now visit.
• Singapore has claimed the title of the world’s most powerful passport, offering its citizens visa-free entry to an astonishing 195 countries.
• France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Japan hold the second spot with visa-free access to 192 destinations each.
• Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden share the third position, with their passports granting visa-free entry to 191 countries.
• Pakistan's passport is ranked 100^th, giving its holders access to 33 countries, while Afghanistan occupies the last place with visa-free entry to just 26 destinations.
• Sri Lanka at 93^th spot with 44 whereas Nepal at 98^th spot with 39 destinations and Bhutan at 87th spot with 52 destinations.

• • The Henley Passport Index ranks passports using data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA). 
• • 199 passports and 227 destinations are measured using the number of countries the passport holder can access without a visa.
• • It assumes travelers are adult citizens meeting basic entry requirements, traveling alone for tourism or business for short stays. 
• • It does not consider diplomatic travel, emergency or temporary passports, or transit stays.
