Assam tribal body rejects GoM proposal to grant ST status to six OBC communities

The Coordination Committee of Tribal Organisations of Assam (CCTOA) has rejected the "illegal and unconstitutional” recommendations of the Group of Ministers (GoM) to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities -Koch-Rajbongshi, Chutia, Matak, Moran, Tai Ahom, and "Tea Tribes" (Adivasis).

The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Friday adopted a unanimous resolution demanding that the Centre restore the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as it is.

The first mountain tunnel breakthrough of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project was achieved in Maharashtra's Palghar district, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Friday. The 1.5-km tunnel is the longest among the seven planned in Maharashtra for the bullet train corridor.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) approved 22 new projects under the ₹22,919 crore Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).

Expansion in India's manufacturing performance slowed to a two-year low in December, with the rate of new business orders, production, and employment growth all slowing, as per a private sector survey.
