Vance trip to Pak on hold, Iran says no talks under threat

US Vice President JD Vance's trip to Pakistan for a second round of negotiations with Iran has been put on hold after Tehran failed to respond to American positions, a US official with direct knowledge of the situation said Tuesday.

Iran, for its part, said it had not yet decided whether to resume talks with the US.

Panel orders study on dependence of grazing communities on forests inside national parks

Noting Difficulties faced by pastoralist communities in accessing grazing rights inside national parks and sanctuaries, the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (SC-NBWL) has directed the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) to undertake a comprehensive study on the pastoral and nomadic communities' dependence on protected areas.

Sabarimala reference hearing: SC explores state's right to regulate religious outfits

Hearing Arguments in the Sabarimala reference, the Supreme Court Tuesday said there was no need to "attack" the power of judicial review on religious practices, adding that giving a religious group the right to ban others from their temples might lead to "civil war".

Fossil-based power declines globally as clean power in India grows: Report

Record Power generation from clean energy sources in India in 2025 resulted in a rare decline in production of electricity from fossil fuels not just in India but also globally, a new report has revealed.

India's fossil fuel-based electricity production in 2025 was about 52 TWh (52 billion units) less than the previous year, the global energy think tank Ember said in its annual Global Electricity Review. China also reported a similar decline in fossil-based electricity, producing about 56 TWh lesser power than 2024.

Maintaining investor confidence key for credit stability: Moody's

Warning that a "more prolonged disruption" in economic activity in the Gulf region will hurt the flow of remittances into India and widen the country's trade deficit, Moody's Ratings has said the government's ability to "maintain investor confidence and manage macroeconomic trade-offs" will be crucial to preserving credit stability.

Govt to tighten Al labelling rules for social media over 'unsatisfactory compliance'

The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has proposed that social media companies like YouTube, Instagram and X will have to 'continuously' display labels on content generated through artificial intelligence (AI), further tightening a recently notified rule which required such labels be applied "prominently," without specifying a time duration.

Why 3D glass semiconductor project is India's top chip bet

Odisha laid the foundation stone for India's first advanced 3D chip packaging unit in Bhubaneswar, a project which IT Secretary S Krishnan said can put the country "on the map" in terms of advanced chip packaging, and one the government will be watching "very closely".

RBI revises norms for recurring e-mandates

The RBI has announced revised guidelines for recurring e-mandate transactions, allowing payments of up to Rs 15,000 per transaction to be processed without Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA). Transactions exceeding this threshold will continue to require AFA, it said.

In a significant relaxation, the RBI stated that payments related to insurance premiums, mutual fund subscriptions and credit card bill dues can be carried out without AFA for amounts up to Rs 1,00,000 per transaction.
