Ladli Lakshmi Yojana is a financial assistance scheme specially designed for girls by the state government in Madhya Pradesh. It is a financial assistance scheme to finance the education and marriage of girls in the state and to assist them during their education. The objective of the scheme is the all-round development of girls. This scheme was launched in May 2007. It is a child insurance scheme, which was launched for girls who are from low-income families and cannot afford quality education or marriage.
Ladli Laxmi Yojana was launched by the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and currently, it is working in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Goa and Chhattisgarh. This scheme benefits all girl children born after January 1, 2006, who fall under the non-tax payment limit and female orphans.
Main Objectives of Ladli Laxmi Yojana
The primary goal of this plan is to provide coverage for school and wedding expenses. However, there were other goals in mind when starting the plan.
- The scheme encourages states to celebrate the birth of girl children without any stress regarding education and marriage finance, thereby improving the girl sex ratio in the state.
- To improve the overall health and education status of girls in the state.
- Overall controlling the population is one of the many objectives of Ladli Lakshmi Yojana. By launching this scheme the government wants to encourage families to limit themselves to two children regardless of the gender of the child.
- To provide a bright future for girls and make them self-reliant.
- Discouraging child marriage by bearing the cost of education.
Eligibility for the Ladli Lakshmi Scheme
- Girls who are born on or after January 1 are eligible for Ladli Lakshmi Yojana.
- The applicant’s child should be registered in the local Anganwadi centre.
- The parents of the applicant must be natives of Madhya Pradesh.
- Remember that the parents of the applicant should not be income taxpayers.
- Parents who have adopted a daughter and want to avail the benefits of the scheme will have to provide proof of adoption of the daughter.
- A girl child born in the first delivery will be given the benefit without organizing a family.
- The families of the parents will be traced to provide benefits to the girl child born from the second delivery.
- For parents who have two or less children, family arrangements have been adopted after the birth of the second child.

- Photo of a daughter with Parent
- birth certificate of the girl child
- All documents should be in jpg, jpeg, gif, jpg, JPEG, PNG, or GIF format, apart from this no other format will be valid.
- Keep in mind that the size of all documents should be between 40KB to 200KB, no other size is acceptable.
Benefits of Ladli Laxmi Yojana
There are many benefits associated with Ladli Lakshmi Yojana as it provides scope for a bright future for the girl child.
- Under this scheme, the girl gets an assurance certificate of Rs 1,18,000/-, which is issued by the government in the name of the girl.
- A girl child covered under the scheme is offered Rs 2,000 on admission in class 6.
- A girl child covered under the scheme is offered Rs 4,000 on admission in class 9th.
- Girls covered under the scheme are offered Rs 6,000 on admission in class 11th.
- Girls covered under the scheme are offered Rs 6,000 on admission in class 12th.
- Under the Ladli Lakshmi Scheme, girls taking admission in any undergraduate course are provided an incentive amount of Rs 25,000 in 2 equal instalments in the first and final year of the course.
- The government will bear the tuition fees for higher education.
- The final payment of Rs 1 lakh will be made after the girl child completes 21 years of age.
