The much-awaited NDA 2 2024 SSB Interview dates have now been officially released.

This interview will be conducted for the NDA 155 and NA 117 courses. Candidates who have successfully cleared the written examination of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) can now select their SSB interview dates. This date selection process began on May 30, 2025, and will remain open until 3:00 PM on June 6, 2025.

Update: The last date for selecting SSB interview dates for NDA 1 2025 has been extended to June 10, 2025.

This phase is crucial for all candidates aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces. The SSB (Services Selection Board) interview evaluates a candidate’s eligibility, leadership skills, mental toughness, and other qualities.

Note: Date allocation is done on a first-come, first-served basis. So, to secure your preferred slot, select it as soon as possible.

What is the NDA Selection Process?

The NDA (National Defence Academy) selection process comprises two stages:

  1. Written Examination
  2. SSB Interview (Services Selection Board Interview)

Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in both stages. Those who qualify in both stages are placed on a combined merit list based on total marks. Final selection is made based on the number of vacancies, eligibility, medical fitness, and merit-cum-preference.

Marking Scheme:

  • GAT Paper: 4 marks for each correct answer, 1.33 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Mathematics Paper: 2.5 marks for each correct answer, 0.83 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Candidates must score at least 25% marks in each subject.
  • Those who qualify the written exam are called for the SSB Interview.

SSB Interview Process:

The SSB Interview is conducted over 5 days in two stages:

  1. Stage I:
  • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test
  • Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT)
  • Candidates are shortlisted based on combined performance in OIR and PP&DT.
  1. Stage II:
  • Personal Interview
  • Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks
  • Psychology Tests
  • Conference
  • The total marks for the SSB interview are 900.
  • Three officers assess each candidate:
    • Interviewing Officer (IO)
    • Group Testing Officer (GTO)
    • Psychologist
  • Marks are awarded holistically based on overall performance.
  • Final recommendation depends on the presence of Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) and trainability.

What is the NDA Cut-Off?

The NDA cut-off is the minimum score that candidates must secure separately in both the written exam and SSB interview.

UPSC determines the cut-off.

Candidates who meet the cut-off in the written exam are called for the SSB interview.

Similarly, minimum marks must be secured in the SSB stage too.

Final selection is based on combined marks of the written test and interview.

Final NDA Selection Process:

  • Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks separately in the written exam and SSB for admission to Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • For Air Force selection, candidates must also qualify the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS).
  • Final selection is based on:
    • Performance (merit)
    • Medical fitness
    • Preferences given by the candidate
    • Availability of vacancies

Can Girls Join NDA?

Yes, Following a historic Supreme Court judgment, female candidates are now allowed to join the NDA.

  • Age Limit for Girls: 16.5 to 19.5 years
  • Girls who have passed Class 12 or are appearing in it can apply.
  • However, medical standards may vary for female candidates.

Documents Required for SSB Interview:

  • Original Class 12 certificate or equivalent
  • Reservation certificate (if applicable – SC/ST/OBC etc.)
  • Valid ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, Residence Proof)
  • Category-specific eligibility certificate (if applicable)

Tips to Prepare for SSB Interview:

  1. Physical Fitness: Stay healthy and focus on physical exercises for SSB physical tasks.
  2. Current Affairs: Stay updated with national and international events as they may be discussed in the interview.
  3. Personality Development: Work on leadership skills, communication, and teamwork, which are crucial qualities evaluated during the SSB process.
