• 1976: Canada joined, forming the G7.
• 1998: Russia joined, forming the G8.
• 2014: Russia was expelled following its annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean region, and the group reverted to the G7.
• It is an international economic grouping comprising major developed and industrialized economies. The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal group of seven advanced economies and the European Union.

• Current Members: Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States (GF-JUICE).

• Although India is not a formal member of the G7, it is recognized as a powerful and influential global power.
• Since 2019, India has been invited every year to the outreach sessions of the G7 Summit and has participated more than 11 times so far.
• The continued invitations reflect India's position as the world's fifth-largest economy and a major voice highlighting the priorities of the Global South.
