Preliminary Examination Structure:

The Prelims examination comprises two primary papers:

  • General Studies Paper: This paper consists of objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs). It carries a total of 200 marks. Candidates are granted a time limit of 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete this paper.
  • General Aptitude Test: Similar to the General Studies paper, this section is also of objective (MCQ) type and carries 200 marks. Candidates are allotted 2 hours to complete this paper. Notably, there is no negative marking for wrong answers in the MPPSC Prelims exam.

MPPSC Mains Examination Configuration:

Under the MPPSC Mains examination, there are five distinct main papers:

  • General Studies I: This paper is weighted at 300 marks.
  • General Studies II: Similar to the first paper, this one also carries a weightage of 300 marks.
  • General Studies III: This paper contributes 300 marks to the overall score.
  • General Studies IV: The fourth General Studies paper is worth 200 marks.
  • Hindi: The Hindi paper is also weighted at 200 marks.
  • Hindi Essay: The Hindi essay paper carries a maximum of 100 marks.

Notably, the first three General Studies papers are allotted a time span of 180 minutes (3 hours) each. On the other hand, the fourth General Studies paper and the Hindi paper have a duration of 180 minutes each. The Hindi Essay paper has a slightly shorter time limit of 120 minutes (2 hours).
